2026 Franciscan Peace Pilgrimage Visit

It was good to welcome Br Felix and Br Hugh with their companions Amy Claire and Jimm to Letocetum (Wall Roman Site) on Wednesday 19th August 2026 as part of their Peace Pilgrimage.

After a quick viewing of the remains of the bath house and mansio, the merry band were taken to the museum to observe the interesting collection of artefacts found at Letocetum. A cup of tea, and biscuits too, were much appreciated whilst the quartet learned more of the history of the important Roman Town located at the junction of Watling Street and Ryknild Street.

Image 1 shows the floor plan of the Franciscan Monastery that was once in Lichfield and the board in image 2 gives information of the monastery. The Franciscan Brothers were well liked by the population of Lichfield as they were able to use the water supplied to the monastery freely. The water actually was piped from Aldershawe, just less than ¼ of a mile from the village of Wall.
